The Cal Ripken Experience

Looking for some reasons to enjoy the Smoky Mountains in nearby Sevier County for the month of March? Let’s look at what there is going now here now and soon.

Now: The Cal Ripken Experience in Pigeon Forge has opened for business on March 9th, 2016. This has been a large work-in-progress for over a year now, and as such we can add six new baseball diamonds, a two level clubhouse and much more to the Smoky Mountain sporting experience. More on that at https://www.ripkenbaseball.com/youth_baseball/pigeon_forge.

Soon: Also on the 19th of March is the grand opening for Dollywood’s 2016 operating season. If you’ve never been to Festival of the Nations, you’ve been missing out on 20 years of some of the best, most unique entertainment and food the Smokies has provided. This year, entertainers and performance shows will include Mother Africa, Los Pampas Gauchos, Atahualpa, Celtic Coast, David Charrier, Duo Del Sol and more that you can find at www.dollywood.com.

Sooner: March 15th to the 19th brings the return of A Mountain Quiltfest at the LeConte Conference Center. This is a surprisingly popular and enriching special event for fans of the Appalachian culture here in the Smokies with many amazing quilts on display, workshops for and taught by professional quilters, and prizes for top quality works of art as well.

Great stuff to look forward to within just a couple weeks of time! All of it is within an hour’s drive from our cabins here around Dandridge, TN.
